Combining “cyber” and “feminism” in 1991 was a provocation, a critique of the stereotypical cyberbabes that stocked 1980s sci-fi landscapes and a reclamation of the use of technology. Cyberfeminism is vast and includes black cyberfeminism, xenofeminism, glitch feminism, feminist Afrofuturism, hackfeministas, netfemis and more. The Cyberfeminism Index gathers these acts of radical techno-criticism as an annotated chronology that spans 1990–2020. Throughout the book’s pages, scholars, hackers, artists, and activists of all regions, races, sexual orientations, and genetic make-ups consider how humans might reconstruct themselves by way of technology. The works collected in the catalog comprise valuable and necessary additions to technology studies and cannot be siloed into scholarship on gender. This is not a book for women, but rather a resource for those who study and/or make work on or about the internet.
